Colin’s Joy Project is proud to be featured on the Ak Lander website, a business based out of the United Kingdom that focuses on producing custom-made memorial gravestones as well as renovating existing memorials. Ak Lander got its start in 1866 and is well known in the UK for its reputation of quality craftsmanship and attention to detail.

Kerri McGrath sat down with their news correspondant to discuss Colin’s Joy Project’s participation in the 2019 Boston Marathon, their fundraising efforts, and the mission of the project overall. Kerri remembers the marathon as an incredible accomplishment for herself and her team, but also as a day filled with grief and loneliness. Because although the marathon is finished, “[her] race would never be over.”

Overall, Colin’s Joy Project was able to raise a tremendous amount of money through fundraising efforts initiated by the marathon, and it significantly helped them towards their goal of raising $600k in order to enhance play spaces and fund family-focused programs in the South Boston Neighborhood.
